The screenwriter works like a detective. Their job is to ask the right questions, follow the flow that each answer creates and move on to the next question.
In 8 days, participants will get to know the theoritical aspects of screenwriting, accompanied by practical exercises. They will work with paper but also with images (a smartphone is needed).
Some core syllabus topics:
Script as narration through images. Narration types.
Who creates the story? The Hero and the others. Film as a meeting point, a space for conflict between "real" desires and demands.
Structure and Technical characteristics of screenwriting.
Time and Space. How to use them and bring them together.
Dialogue as a tool for narration.
Scene and sequence.
Sound as a tool in the service of the writer.
What is my story about? The hidden Theme.
The director's script - the editor's script.
We will use excerpts from films and tv shows. There will also be an analysis of a completed film script.
This workshop's goal is the creation of a short film script and mainly the acquisition of a method.
